The teaching assistant should have successfully completed the course that they wish to TA with some nobable exceptions, e.g. Chemistry 102, chemistry for non-majors or Chemistry 224, life science organic chemistry II. Organic chemistry and above require faculty or staff permission to be considered, but a specific letter grade is not necessarily required. Teaching assistants are chosen based on their lab skills and their general dependabilty and eagerness to serve. Teaching assistants are required to circulate among the students, if not equally, commesurately witht needs of the students in their labs. Strong communication social skills are required along with the ability to serve as a leader. TA's are asked to be strong examples for their students and an overal commitment to safety is required. |
