Job Description
Peer Career Advisors will work as a team in the Career Development office and offer specialized assistance across campus.  Each Peer Career Advisor will work closely under the Career Consultants to develop skills and training specific to different majors.  
Peer Career Advisors will:
  • Work with students one-on-one and in group settings to help students work through questions related to self-exploration, the world of work and other career-oriented questions
  • Provide walk-in assistance to students 
  • Consult students in resume/cover letter writing process and review/track resume submissions 
  • Present on career and job search-related topics to student groups, organizations, scholarship cohorts, etc. 
  • Design informational materials and presentations to educate specific student groups on the crafting of job application components and the use of career resources  
  • Conduct orientations to Career Development resources and tools (PathwayU, Handshake, MBTI, etc.) 
  • Provide training on networking and LinkedIn
  • Participate in various Center for Personal and Professional Development initiatives, marketing and career research projects
  • Research best practices and help with various projects throughout the year as it relates to their particular school assignment 
  • Other duties as assigned  
Job Requirements

This position would train for 3-4 hours per week Spring 2023 and could start for full-time hours in Summer or Fall 2023.

Requirements: Leadership abilities, customer service, public speaking, initiative, demonstrated work ethic, creativity, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to handle multiple projects at one time, attention to detail, genuine interest in helping students, professional demeanor.  Evening/weekend availability for programming as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: Past program planning and leadership work; computer skills including Excel. Applications open to all class years.
