Job Description

The Associate Student Director of Communication & Diversity and Inclusion will assist in recruiting, training, and leading the first-year mentors. The Associate Student Director of Communication & Diversity and Inclusion will also assist in both daily operations and semester-long projects of the office, including coordinating first-year community engagement as well as managing social media throughout the academic year. The Associate Director will lead efforts to increase diversity and inclusion elements within the Academic Transitions office through implementing diversified hiring practices, inclusive programming, and so on.

Other duties will include conducting assessments of the BCC curriculum, offering support to the mentors in their guidance of freshmen, planning and leading the bi-weekly mentor meetings, and planning and executing additional events for both BCC 100 faculty and mentors.

Job Requirements

 

Skills required for this team include collaboration, teamwork, and communication, as well as interpersonal skills such as listening, employing empathy, and problem-solving, as the leadership team will provide support and guidance for mentors in multiple ways. The Academic Transitions leadership team would benefit greatly from student-leaders with previous experiences in areas including, but not limited to, event and program planning, project management, social media implementation, and curriculum design. This team is a student-driven team and the personal input and motivation from our student-leaders is highly valued.
