Job Description

Summary

The Senior Scholars Program Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist with the planning and implementation of Senior Scholars, a continuring education program for senior adults in the Rome community. Primary Duties

  • Oversee class set-ups and breakdowns, including developing a room flip schedule.
  • Oversee Senior Scholars supplies inventory and re-stock.
  • Assist with recruiting instructors for, planning, and scheduling Senior Scholars courses.
  • Assist with comunications with Senior Scholars participants.
  • Build relationships with Senior Scholars participants by greeting them when they arrive for classes.

Secondary Duties 

  • Give tours of the Oak Hill home and manage the front desk as needed
  • Assist with museum housekeeping as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work hours are primarily 9-5, Monday through Friday, with occasional after hours and Saturday requirements.

This role will develop skills in schedule & project management, working with senior adults, & program development.

Job Requirements

Skills required: attention to detail, customer service skills, ability to work alone or as part of a group, computer proficiency, and good time management.

After training, the student must be able to do the following when needed: use a register, know the history of Martha Berry and Berry College well enough to give tours, be able to drive golf carts and other Berry vehicles (good driving record is required).

Must be able to work a minimum of 6 hours a week with full 2-hour blocks of time.

As the museum is off-site, transportation is the responsibility of the student.
