Department Summary:
The Museum Office Coordinator will join the staff of Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum, which tells the story of Martha Berry and Berry College through tours of the historic home, exhibitions in the museum, events on the grounds, and educational programming. Oak Hill was the childhood home of Martha Berry and later became her adult residence. The Martha Berry Museum is on the Oak Hill Estate and serves as a place to further tell the story of the Berry Schools.


Position Summary:
The Museum Office Coordinator is an intermediate position that supports administrative operations at Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum. This position offers exposure to the business operations of cultural heritage fields and an opportunity to develop transferable skills such as verbal and written communication and critical thinking.


Essential Functions:
- Respond to and/or redirect emails sent to the museum’s public account and maintain Outlook and EMS calendars.
- Draft and email out weekly staffing schedules with general reminders and details for upcoming events.
- Oversee organization and upkeep of museum staff resources and spaces.
- Manage museum supply inventories and re-stocks.
- Oversee management of The Martha Berry Museum & The Oak Hill Gift Shop registers, including verifying they have been counted down correctly and making changes when needed.
- Train student employees on customer service, front desk management, and visitor experience policies.
- Assist with submitting bi-weekly income reports for The Martha Berry Museum & The Oak Hill Gift Shop.
- Assist with other museum operations (historical tours, housekeeping, customer service, etc.) and projects as required.

Job Requirements

- Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours a week with minimal 1.5-hour blocks of time

- Adaptability in response to shifting daily priorities and responsibilities
- Detail-oriented attitude when completing tasks
- Communication and problem-solving skills when addressing internal and external needs and questions
- Basic proficiency with computers and common administrative software (Outlook, word processors, etc.)
- Driving Requirements: As the museum is not located on Berry’s main campus, student employees are required to organize their own transportation to and from work. Completing certain tasks across the museum property requires the use of museum golf carts and/or vans. At minimum, students are expected to have a provisional license to complete daily museum tasks unless accommodations are needed. Van usage requires a Class C or equivalent license.
