Job Description |
Office of Student Well-being and Support Position: Peer Educator Overview: As a Peer Educator at Berry College, you will be vital in supporting your fellow students in personal health and social growth. Through peer-to-peer interactions, you will facilitate learning, provide mentorship, and foster an environment conducive to students thriving. Responsibilities: - Workshop Facilitation: Plan and conduct workshops, seminars, or peer-led learning sessions on various topics such as time management, effective study techniques, stress management, and academic resources available on campus.
- Resource Referral: Serve as a liaison between students and campus resources, including tutoring centers, counseling services, academic advisors, and student support programs. Direct students to appropriate resources based on their needs and concerns.
- Role Modeling: Demonstrate positive behaviors, attitudes, and study habits to inspire and motivate peers toward academic excellence and personal development.
- Peer Support: Offer empathetic listening, encouragement, and peer support to students experiencing academic or personal challenges. Create a safe, non-judgmental space for students to discuss their concerns and seek guidance.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations to develop and implement initiatives to enhance undergraduate students' holistic well-being. Focused partnerships include the Counseling Center, Health Center, Office of Diversity and Belonging, Recreation, First Year Experience (BCC), and Athletics.
- Training and Development: Participate in training sessions like NASPA’s CPE, Sexual Assault Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, and Stalking Prevention, QPR (Suicide Prevention) Supporting Survivors, and other workshops to enhance your skills in peer mentoring, communication, leadership, and conflict resolution. Stay updated on best practices in peer education and student support services.

Job Requirements |
Qualifications: - Current Undergraduate Student: Enrolled in an undergraduate program at the institution.
- Strong Academic Standing: Demonstrated academic achievement and understanding of college-level coursework.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Communicating effectively with peers, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Empathy and Compassion: Capacity to empathize with students' experiences and provide non-judgmental support and guidance.
- Leadership Skills: Capacity to lead workshops, facilitate discussions, and inspire fellow students towards success.
- Reliability and Professionalism: Punctuality, responsibility, and adherence to confidentiality in handling sensitive student information.
- Commitment: Willingness to commit to the role's responsibilities for the specified duration.
