Position Summary: Career Peer Advisors support the CPPD by: providing individual and small group career consultations, and online resume reviews, presenting career development workshops,

and assisting with career development programming and events.

Because this position requires specialized training, applicants must be available to return to campus early to participate in the mandatory Career Peer Training on August 19-21, 2026. These will not be full 8 hour days. Campus housing will be available during training, and training will be paid at hourly rate. Additional training will be provided throughout the year during weekly Career Peer team meetings.

 

Key Responsibilities

--Conduct individual and small group consultations, including the following appointment types: Basic Resume Review, LifeWorks Resume Review, Building Your LinkedIn Profile, Interview Skills and Preparation, Mock Interview, Job/Internship Search Strategies, Writing Cover Letters

--Deliver career development presentations to classes and campus groups, including Resume 101, Interviewing 101, and Networking 101 workshops

--Host drop-in hours to assist students with document reviews and interviewing (schedule for drop-in hours will be determined based on Career Peer availability, some drop-in hours may be during evenings)

--Enter and retrieve appropriate data through Handshake, including student appointments and event attendance

--Assist CPPD staff in planning and implementing programming and events

--Keep up to date on career, occupational, and employment trends by attending weekly meetings and completing assigned readings and project

--Comply with all institutional, state, and federal information security and privacy policy and laws, including FERPA

Job Requirements
Qualifications
Must be sophomore, junior, or senior in Fall 2026
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and basic Excel
Strong communication skills, customer service skills, and professionalism
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others on a team
Prior knowledge of career development theory and practice preferred, but not required
