Internship with Berry's In-House General Counsel, assist with office tasks and attend meetings, court hearings, and other tasks as appropriate. Can include working with other campus organizations as a liaison for GC office to those departments and periodic meetings. Every effort is made to involve interns in substantive and meaningful exposure to the legal field and the work of in-house counsel in real estate, employment matters, litigation, and other issues that arise.
The job is open to rising seniors and juniors only with preference given to seniors, and students who meet the following criteria: Have completed at least one "law related" course (i.e. business law, constitutional law, communications law, etc.) or have worked as an intern for a law firm, DA's office, etc. Have an intention or desire to explore law as a career and are contemplating law school at some point following graduation. Are mature and confident in a way that facilitates interaction with trustees, donors, college administration, and outside parties at the highest levels and on highly sensitive issues, while able to maintain strict confidence and confidentiality of information and matters that are handled in the GC office.
