Job Description

Responsibilities of All Section Co-Editors a) Assign stories to writers and assign a deadline for the story. If writers do not meet the deadline, the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor must be notified. Deadlines must be clear and precise. b) Pictures needed for stories must be assigned through the Photo Editor so that the Photo Editor assigns the pictures to the photographers. Section Editors must provide the time, type of event and location of event to the Photo Editor. c) Meet all deadlines. If deadlines are not met, the Section Editor will be issued a written warning by the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor. If the situation continues, it could be considered grounds for dismissal. d) Design a layout for each spread and turn in to Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor for corrections. e) Correct all necessary changes and turn back in to Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor for corrections. If you disagree with the corrections, it is your responsibility to schedule an appointment with the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor to discuss the corrections. If the corrections are ignored, the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor reserved the right to make changes as they desire. f) No pages will be considered finished until the following elements are completed: bylines, headlines, copy, captions, folio, photos and photo credits. All of these elements must be included on the spread and printed for the pages to count toward deadlines. g) In addition, he must meet all company requirements for deadline. h) Review the Campus Carrier, the KCAB calendar, magazines and any other areas that might contain information pertinent to the magazine on a regular basis. i) Attend all staff meetings. j) Check section box daily when the college is in session. k) Maintain his work area in the Valkyrie office in a neat and orderly fashion. Handle any other duties that may be assigned to him by the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor. Handle any other duties that may be assigned to her by the Adviser of Student Publications in relation to his position. l) Divide responsibilities with other Co-Editor and share duties equally. m) Other duties as required by your unique section content development and photo/graphics requirements.
