This student research job is for a current Berry student to help a community-engaged, grant-funded project that is collecting evidence of racial violence in Rome/Floyd County (esp. lynchings during 1876–1940), evaluating that evidence, and presenting it on a new public website (www.floydremembrance.org). Operating out of the Berry College Department of Religion and Philosophy, the project is Berry College and aims to work closely with the Rome/Floyd County Community Remembrance Project, Rome Area History Museum, One Community United, and other local organizations to find and archive the necessary materials. This job may also involve extended research into Ellen Axson Wilson and Berry College's own history of race (including work on Freemantown and/or Martha Freeman). |
