The One-Health Biology Research Assistant will perform duties in the field and laboratory to support our long-term research on potential vectors and disseminators of infectious diseases on the Berry College campus. The work will include field work on the Berry College campus to collect insects that might play a role in dissemination and transmission of pathogens among wildlife, livestock, and humans co-inhabiting the campus. Field work might include trapping, soil coring, hand sampling, and other methods as appropriately applied to diverse arthropods such as dung beetles, mosquitoes, biting midges, sand flies, and/or others. Careful field notes will be made to document precise collection location, date, time, and conditions. Lab work will include sorting, preserving, and identifying collected specimens, as well as developing databases covering all data obtained in the field and lab. Also will include digitizing field and laboratory photographic images to develop historic databases. |
