Job Description

The Center for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) is seeking friendly, dependable, and motivated student employees to serve as Office and Events Assistants. This entry-level position provides an opportunity for students to gain experience in customer service, office administration, and event support in a professional office environment.

Students in this role will assist with daily office operations by welcoming visitors, answering phones, monitoring email and mailboxes, and helping students and guests navigate CPPD services. Throughout the year, CPPD hosts career events, trainings, workshops, and other campus programs, and Office and Events Assistants will help prepare materials and provide support for these activities.

Job Requirements

Students should have an interest in working in an office setting, providing customer service, and supporting campus events. Successful candidates will be dependable, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and comfortable greeting visitors and answering phones in a professional manner. A positive attitude and strong communication skills are important, as this role regularly interacts with students, staff, and guests.

Office Support

  • Answer and transfer phone calls in a professional manner
  • Welcome students, employers, and campus visitors
  • Check students and visitors in for appointments
  • Escort students and visitors to appointments when needed
  • Monitor the CPPD email inbox and P.O. Boxes
  • Restock office supplies and maintain organized workspaces
  • Light office cleaning, including sweeping, dusting, tidying workspaces, and disinfecting common areas

Event Support

  • Prepare handouts and materials for events and trainings
  • Organize and gather supplies needed for programs and events
  • Assist with event preparation and setup
  • Work CPPD events that occur during scheduled work hours
  • Help maintain organization before, during, and after events
