Job Description

Summary / Objective:

 

The Compliance Intern supports OTR Engineered Solutions’ efforts to ensure that global supply chain activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations, and internal policies. This internship provides hands-on experience with regulatory compliance, supplier due diligence, trade compliance, ESG initiatives, and legal risk management within an international manufacturing environment. The intern will work closely with Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Sustainability teams to research regulatory requirements, review supplier documentation, support compliance initiatives, and assist with process improvement projects.

                                               

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Conducts research on domestic and international regulations affecting supply chain operations.
  2. Assists with supplier compliance and due diligence activities.

3.     Helps track changes in legal and regulatory requirements impacting procurement and global sourcing.

4.     Assists in preparing reports, presentations, and compliance dashboards for leadership.

5.     Supports contract management activities by reviewing supplier agreements for required compliance provisions.

6.     Participates in compliance audits and supplier assessments.

7.     Helps develop and update compliance policies, procedures, and training materials.

8.     Researches emerging legal trends related to ESG, responsible sourcing, modern slavery legislation, and corporate sustainability reporting.

9.     Assists in maintaining compliance documentation and records in accordance with company policies.

10.   Collaborates with Procurement, Legal, Supply Chain, Quality, Sustainability, and Internal Audit teams on cross-functional compliance initiatives.

Work Environment:

 

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. At times, employee might be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

1.     Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

2.     Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

 

Semester/Part-Time Internships: Usually 10–25 hours per week, allowing for class schedules.

Required Education and Experience:

 

1.     Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Legal Studies Operations, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

 

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

 

1.     Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Legal Studies Operations, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

2.     Coursework in business law, ethics, international trade, procurement, or supply chain management

3.     Interest in international business and regulatory compliance
