Job Description

The Title I tutor works with identified at-risk students in grades K-12 at the Open Door Home. The ratio of tutor to student is 1:1. The Title I tutor provides support in the specified core content area where the student is exhibiting academic weakness. This may be Math, Reading, ELA, Writing, Science, or Social Studies. Tutors are paired with students based on their areas of expertise and preference. Students will work in one hour blocks of time with a given student, two days a week. Sessions will be late afternoon or early evening. (Monday-Thursday, 5-6pm or 7-8pm shifts, non-continguous). Days can vary.

Math or Physics upper classment

Recommendation from faculty, advisors required. Ask faculty to send an email or letter of recommendation to Mark Kozera

Students who enroll and participate in the math tutoring must also apply and be an active member of Viking Math Tutoring once available. Rosters for both math tutoring opportunities will be shared.

Enjoys working with children Proficiency is subject material (various age levels) 

Must pass criminal background check to be eligible (cost is $15, student is responsible for expense) and attend Communities in Schools mentor training (1.0 hours).

Sophomore or above with reliable transport to and from Open Door Home
