Job Description

The student will travel to Garden Lakes Elementary School for the purpose of assisting media specialist in the 3rd - 8th grade media centers. The student provides additional support and services to the Floyd County Schools Technology and Media Services Department to make sure teachers are able to utilize technology to do their jobs. Activities may include: - Shelving books - Assisting students with book selection - Lexiling the media center - Circulation services (check in and check out) - Library housekeeping (vacuuming rugs, replacing torn barcodes/spine labels, wiping down books and shelves) - Laminating No experience is necessary and the right candidate will be trained on how to perform all duties as needed. Students will be assigned to a school somewhere within Floyd County Schools. Student needs will be considered when placing at a facility. Students will be assigned based on Floyd County's needs. Students must be comfortable working with Floyd County Schools students and teachers with little supervision.

Upper classmen, sophomore or above. The student must possess their own means of transportation, a valid driver's license, and be willing to complete a criminal background check. Students must attend and complete a 1.5 hour School Mentoring training program through the Communities in School. Training dates to be established. Education, English majors are a good academic fit but will consider majors. Students must want and like to work with children. Students can flex hours in the schools between 7:30AM - 4:30PM within their assigned school, Monday through Friday. Students will need to be able to work at least three hours if they are going to a school.
