Job Description

The Title I tutor works with identified at-risk students in grades K-12 at the Open Door Home. The ratio of tutor to student is 1:1. The Title I tutor provides support in the specified core content area where the student is exhibiting academic weakness. This may be Reading, ELA, or Writing. Tutors are paired with students based on their areas of expertise and preference. Students will work in one hour blocks of time with a given student, two days a week. Sessions will be late afternoon or early evening. Looking to hire in spring for orientation and acclamation to open door home. Ideally, would hire candidate to continue for academic year 2017-2018.

Job Requirements

Sophomore or above with reliable transportation to and from Open Door Home. Enjoys working with children Proficiency is subject material (various age levels) Reading, ELA, or Writing. Recommendation from faculty, advisors required. Ask faculty to send an email or letter of recommendation to Mark Kozera Students who enroll and participate in the math tutoring must also apply and be an active member of Viking Math Tutoring once available. Education majors, Psychology classes a plus. Must pass criminal background check to be eligible and attend Communities in Schools mentor training (1.5 hours)
