Job Description

Now Hiring for Summer 2026!

This employee will be cross trained as an animal care attendant and a veterinary assistant.  They will be scheduled in different parts of the hospital as the schedule warrants.  Animal Care Attendant: Duties consist of primary care of all animals in our facilities.  You will be responsible for feeding, medicating, cleaning, walking and bathing all animals in our kennel.  This person is also responsible for janitorial duties in the facility - sweeping & mopping floors -washing & drying towels, etc.  

Veterinary Assistant: Duties consist of accompanying clients and patients to and from the exam rooms, weighing/restraining animals, preparing and running various test and vaccines for the doctor.  This employee will also be responsible for some general housekeeping duties.  Workers will eventually be cross trained to perform all duties in the clinic.  Any other job as requested by doctor or office manager.   Weekend work is required on a rotating basis.

Applicants must be enrolled in animal science department and be at least a sophomore or above in good academic standing.  Reliable transportation to and from work is required.  All employees are required to work some holiday shifts. Ideal candidate will transition to increased work schedule during the summer, from reduced work schedule during academic year.
