Job Description

The Title I tutor works with identified at-risk students in grades K-12 at the Open Door Home. The ratio of tutor to student is 1:1. The Title I tutor provides support in the specified core content area where the student is exhibiting academic weakness. This may be Reading, Writing, Social Sciences, Sciences, or General Math, depending upon tutor competencies. Tutors are paired with students based on their areas of expertise and preference. Students will work in one hour blocks of time with a given student, two days a week. Sessions will be late afternoon or early evening. (Monday-Thursday, 5-6pm or 7-8pm, non-continguous). 

Job Requirements

Recommendation from faculty, advisors required. Ask faculty to send an email or letter of recommendation to Mark Kozera 

Enjoys working with children Proficiency is subject material (various age levels) Reading, ELA, Writing. 

Education majors, Psychology classes a plus. 

Must pass criminal background check to be eligible and attend Communities in Schools mentor training (1.0 hours)

Sophomore or above with reliable transportation to and from Open Door Home.
